Analysis of Thickness Distributions Calculated from Surface Strains Obtained through Digital Image Correlation for Incremental Sheet Forming

چکیده

This paper discusses the thickness distributions calculated from surface strain measurements using stereo Digital Image Correlations (DIC) for parts produced with Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF). The research is carried out on six benchmark cones and pyramids each convex, straight concave walls. accuracy of calculations, under assumption material incompressibility formula Green-Lagrange strains, compared to measured a fringe projection scanner. estimations based strains proved be representative mean error 0.0182 mm, which corresponds relative 1.47 % thickness. However, errors up 0.1688 mm were found in areas high wall angles curvatures, corresponding maximal 13.69 Hence, DIC are well suited characterizing Using thicknesses find minimal as an indicator part failure, possible that have average overestimation 2.87%

Exergy analysis of incremental sheet forming

Research in the last 15 years has led to die-less incremental forming processes that are close to realization in an industrial setup. Whereas many studies have been carried out with the intention of investigating technical abilities and economic consequences, the ecological impact of incremental sheet forming (ISF) has not been studied so far. Using the concept of exergy analysis, two ISF techn...

Low-Carbon Steel Sheet Asymmetric Single-Point Incremental Forming: Analysis and Optimization of the Surface Roughness (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Surface roughness (SR) has an adverse effect on the appearance of low-carbon steel parts, formed in the asymmetric incremental sheet forming (AISF) process, particularly those requiring painting operation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of AISF process parameters on the surface roughness of an asymmetric part formed on low-carbon steel sheets. The parameters are feed ra...

Numerical and Experimental Analysis and Optimization of Process Parameters of AA1050 Incremental Sheet Forming

The incremental sheet metal forming (ISMF) process is a new and flexible method that is well suited for small batch production or prototyping. This paper studies the use of the finite element method in the incremental forming process of AA1050 sheets to investigate the influence of tool diameter, vertical step size, and friction coefficient on forming force, spring-back, and thickness distribut...

The Effects of Forming Parameters on the Single Point Incremental Forming of 1050 Aluminum Alloy Sheet

The single point incremental forming (SPIF) is one of the dieless forming processes which is widely used in the sheet metal forming. The correct selection of the SPIF parameters influences the formability and quality of the product. In the present study, the Gurson-Tvergaard Needleman (GTN) damage model was used for the fracture prediction in the numerical simulation of the SPIF process of alum...

Accuracy of size distributions obtained from single particle static digital image analysis

Image analysis has made decisive breakthrough in the recent years to become a reference technique in the field of combined size and shape analysis of particles. Thanks to full automation of the particle dispersion and the individual particle imaging process, productivity of the instrument is no longer a major drawback. However the question of representativity of analyses has not been discussed ...
